Rosario Miranda

A Film by David Baute

The film Rosario Miranda delves into the life of Domingo Regalado. He, an elderly farmer, was deeply connected to his surroundings from a young age but also experienced moments of fame beyond the Canary Islands as a drag performer.

His life was unconventional, as behind his identity as a transgender individual lay a rural man who offered wise counsel and was impossible to ignore. Locals often stopped to chat with him for a few minutes when they saw him at sunset, seated on his small stone throne near his home. This short film recounts his life and the challenging relationships he has faced since childhood with a society that largely refused to accept his sexual identity.
